Copycat Zuppa

1 Quart water
1 box chicken broth
2 cloves of garlic chopped

cook up 1 pound of Italian sausage (don't add yet)

heat till boil

once boiling add

1 onion chopped
2 large russet potatoes or 3 smaller cut into disks about 1/4 thick
boil until potatoes are starting to get tender but not falling apart

1 package of real bacon bits or use a half pound of bacon you have cooked up
add the sausage

let everything simmer for 10 min.

take off heat add

1 cup fat free half and half (you can use heavy whipping cream if you want it creamier)
3 cups kale torn into pieces and main stem in middle of leaf removed
serve
